From Struggling Mom to Accomplished Accountant and Homeowner
When Amber had the courage to leave a toxic relationship, her primary focus was finding a stable and secure place to call home for herself and her children. She sought a fresh start, a place to begin the healing process, and pursue a brighter future. That’s when she got the news that she was going to move into a Cornerstone community.
Embracing affordable housing, she found herself able to cover rent and the essentials with far less stress. She could rest easy at night knowing her children had a place to call home. This newfound stability lifted a weight off her shoulders, allowing her to set her sights on reaching even greater goals with a heart full of hope and optimism.
For Amber, who grew up in a family where education wasn’t a priority, she envisioned a better path. She knew the power of education and recognized it was the key to her success. She was determined to set a positive example for her own children.
While raising her three children, Amber worked at a local department store and went to school. Amber’s hard work paid off. She received her degree in accounting and landed a great job. In 2023 her dream of buying a home came true.
Amber said, “I am very thankful for having affordable housing. I was able to pay my rent and go to class, and that was a big thing for my success”.
Amber built a strong foundation and created the life she’d always envisioned.

Down To Earth has done it again! Their annual year-end fundraising event knocked it out of the park, raising an incredible $10,203.00 for families and individuals who call a Cornerstone community home. A kaleidoscope of big goals and dreams
Who says you need to be a grown-up to dream big? Our little visionaries from different Cornerstone communities recently gathered for a fun afternoon crafting their very own vision boards! Armed with scissors, glue, and a pile of magazines, these kids unleashed their imagination and dove headfirst into the world of goal setting.
From astronauts to rock stars, they snipped out pictures of everything they wanted to achieve in 2024 and beyond.
Not only did this creative experience leave them with a colorful collage of dreams, but it also fueled their excitement and determination to make those dreams a reality. Talk about setting the stage for a bright and fabulous future!
Thanks to your incredible support, Cornerstone kids get to embark on these magical journeys, where creativity knows no bounds and every snip of a magazine brings them closer to their wildest dreams. Together, we’re building a future filled with endless possibilities and boundless potential!
Keep Calm and Bowl On
Striking their way to healthy fun during their spare time!
Cornerstone teens dove into an afternoon packed with fun and friendly competition! Bowling fever hit the group hard, offering the perfect chance for our youth to swap screens for strikes. With bowling shoes laced up tight, they knocked down pins while building bonds that will not be soon forgotten.
Every roll of the ball echoed with laughter and cheers as they rallied each other towards that elusive perfect strike!
These action-packed outings aren’t just about the strikes and spares. They’re all about fostering healthy competition, setting personal goals, and celebrating every win – big or small. And guess what? None of this would have been possible without your incredible support!
Thanks to you, our Cornerstone youth know they’re part of a community that is here to cheer them on every step of the way!
A Day of Self-Care and a Pop of Fun
Breaking the ice with a golden ticket adventure
Who would’ve thought the ice storm in Oregon would be the perfect excuse for some serious self-care and fun? At Cornerstone, we know how important our Get Motivated outings are and we’re all about keeping things active! Our recent movie day featuring “Willy Wonka” was a huge hit.
One resident, a spunky 70-year-old, couldn’t contain her excitement about finally breaking free from her icy abode. “I haven’t seen the light of day in 5 days!” she exclaimed, soaking in every moment of this much-needed outing. With laughter, popcorn, and a sprinkle of magic, our community knows how to turn a trying time into a memorable adventure!
Outings like these help seniors and folks with disabilities feel a sense of social cohesion and well-being. For those who often feel isolated and lonely, these activities are important for both their physical and emotional health.
